GORE BIKE WEAR™ TransWales 2010 – the 7 day MTB stage challenge 14th – 21st August 2010

Home Image For years mountain bikers have been searching for new challenges. From a temporary disinterest in cross country racing, an ever growing market of long distance endurance events has evolved. Primarily their attraction is that they demand more than just sheer brutal power for 1.5 hours, the key to their success are tactics and pacing and the riders’ right frame of mind. Endurance events or mountain bike marathons have been around in the UK now for more than half a decade and have turned the scene and the industry around. What used to be a sport for just a few ‘race horses’ is now a regular event happening throughout the UK. This trend towards mass participation events for all levels of riders, enables people of varying abilities to overcome their barriers, achieving new personal goals and simply follow a healthy and active lifestyle. They also offer the chance to get away from it all, relax and have fun.

With this in mind we have created the first ever ‘TransWales’ (2006) and are continuing running the TransUK in either Wales or Scotland. For 2010 the TransUK events are staying in Wales for the 4th ‘issue’ of the TransWales - 7 day long Mountain Bike stage challenge. The event is a mixture of linking stages and special stages and can be tackled in either pairs or as solo riders. Not just endurance but also tactics, the right equipment and an ability to pace yourself will be key to enjoying as well as to winning this event.

For 2010 we have changed our format even further by not just running the majority of special/timed section ‘within’ the linking stages to give the event greater flexibility in its course and location choice as well as ease the pressure on the riders in particular in bad weather conditions ( please see event details for further info). Besides that we will vary the type of special stage further so that we can really find out who the best all round riders are. And to top it all off we will have a completely reworked course for the 2010 Gore Bike Wear TransWales.
