GORE BIKE WEAR™ TransWales 2010 - REQUIREMENTS

General points for solo riders and teams:
• Event holdalls with identification cards will be handed out to the riders at the signing on.
• Timing chips or similar will be handed out (£ 10 deposit per chip) at the signing on (please see 'timing device' below).
• Please note that we can only transport one event holdall per rider (approx: 35 x 40 x 100cm) - Everything you want to take and you need for the duration of the event, that includes your mattress and sleeping bag and if possible your tent as well as your change of clothes etc will have to fit into that bag. The bag will be of generous size but we would like to make riders aware of this limitation.
• The team tent should not be bigger than a 3 man tent and the tent bag is only for transporting your tent not for additional kit. You will be given an identity card for your tent.
• We will have no charging points for mobile phone for the duration of the event.
• We will have no charging points for night lights. Please bring your lights fully charged. You will only need them for the night stage.
• The full rules are available as a download from www.mtbtransuk.co.uk or as a printed copy at the signing on.
• This event is going to be hard on both the rider and the bike. Please make sure both are properly prepared for your safety and enjoyment.

Timing device: Every rider will receive a timing chip or dibber which has to be either mounted in front of the bottom bracket with the bigger part of the chip pointing towards the ground (please see display bike at the registration) or be carried on a wrist band or lanyard. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure the chip is properly mounted/dibber is properly carried. If done incorrectly or not done at all no time can be given at the special stages. If uncertain please ask a member of staff. The timing chip has to be securely fitted on the competitor’s bike and cannot be changed at any stage in the event. If a dibber is used – it is the sole responsibility to register the dibber at the start and finish of every special stage. Without correct registration no time can be given. Every rider will have to pay a deposit for the timing chip/dibber at the signing on, which will be refunded upon return of the chip/dibber at the end of the TransWales.

Phone number / mobile phone: We ask every team to carry at least one working and fully charged mobile phone for emergencies. Please note that you will not have charging facilities during the week so please keep it ONLY for emergency usage. We would like to ask every mobile phone to be registered at the signing on so that we can get hold of the team/rider in case of emergencies. This is extremely important and in the general interest of safety.

Event village / signing on: The event village, the start/finish will be based near Builth Wells. The exact location will be confirmed in due course.

The signing on will be open from 12 (noon) pm – 8pm on Saturday the 14th August 2010. There is NO registration on Sunday. The start will be at 9.00am on Sunday morning. If you are delayed please ring us on + 44 (0) 7976 596418. Pasta Party main briefing: The pre event pasta party will be held at the start location on Saturday 14th from approximately 6pm onwards. We are aiming to run the main event briefing during the pasta party but it might be moved to Sunday morning before the start of the ride. It is essential that every competitor is present at the main briefing. Parking: The parking for the competitors is at the start and finish (TBC) in the designated parking area. Vehicles are left at the owners risk but we will do our utmost to look after them during the event week. Do not leave valuables in your car, or on display.

Camping: There will be showers, toilets and water at every over night stay. All your equipment (event holdall and tent) will be transported from location to location. You are required to set your tent up when you arrive at a new location. The next morning you will have to pack it up and hand your holdall and the tent to the transport team. If you got the GOLDEN package then you don’t have to worry about setting up of breaking down of the tent. Just take your event holdall (including your mattress and your sleeping bag) to the transport lorries and hand them to our staff.

High5: The crew from High5 will be travelling with us from location to location, so you can buy all necessary energy food/drinks. They will also have special deals available throughout the week. Please bring money so that you can stock up on supplies.

Support staff/food voucher: If you are bringing support staff with vehicles and you haven’t told us about it so far please drop us a quick email to info@mtbtransuk.co.uk so that we can make sure that we have enough space for vehicles and extra tents. Please be aware that we might have to charge support crews a small contribution if extra facilities have to be brought in. We have also a ‘food only’ voucher in place for £ 125. The holder will receive the same meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) as the riders. If you are interested please send a cheque to us with the name of the person the food voucher is for or purchase the ‘food only’ voucher at the registration. There will be a mechanic and a massage tent at every stage end.
