Spring is slowly breaking through and the preparations for this year’s MTB endurance highlight the Gore Bike Wear TransWales powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport are in full flow.
Course and guidebook updates:
John has been very busy over the last few weeks finalising the course for the 2010 TransWales. The 2010 course will be almost completely new affair heading from Builth Wells all the way to the English border before making its way via the welsh coast back to Builth. With a distance of over 500km and climbing of over 15,000meter this event is the perfect opportunity for the riders to test themselves against the elements as well as to discover the fantastic riding central Wales has to offer. The 2010 event will have 5 special stages which are run within the linking stages except the traditional night stage (sponsored by EXPOSURE LIGHTS) and the final stage which will take place on the last day back in Builth Wells. Two of the special stages are even more special in the way that one is a climb and the other one a descent. This should allow the specialists to shine as well as giving more people the chance to win one of the many prizes provided by out title sponsor Gore Bike Wear.
The details of each stage including stage length, amount of climbing and descending, special stages and predicted riding time is now online on the stage pages of the TransWales website.

Entries have been flooding in from all over the world with lots of new riders taking up the challenge. There are still places for pairs and solo riders available but please be quick to avoid disappointment. You can enter via online entry or via downloadable entry form. Long standing TransUK supporter Buff will provide once more the custom TransWales Buff which will be handed out to all the riders when they sign on. It has proven a valuable piece of kit over the last few events giving ideal protection from the elements while taking up no space in the rider’s luggage and day packs. First CRC marathon only 4 weeks away:
With the Gore Bike Wear TransWales powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport marked on lots of rider’s calendar the right training and preparation for the event is now on the agenda. But don’t worry the 1st CRC MTB Marathon is just around the corner. On the 10-11th April the 1st marathon of the 2010 season will kick off with the traditional EXPOSURE LIGHTS BIG NIGHT OUT night marathon. Paired with 3 different marathon distances to choose from on the Sunday of the event weekend the marathons are not just a great riding weekend away but also the perfect preparation for a summer full of racing and events.
You can now find all the course details including a brief course description, course length, profiles, amount of climbing and approximate distance between service stations on the various event pages. So if you are keen to find out what you are letting yourself in for make sure you have a look on the event of your choosing.

Kona Mash-Up powered by the Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport:
A still relatively new addition to our events schedule the Kona Mash-Up powered by the Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport returns in 2010 with now three events. Two of them will take place at the birthplace of the Mash-Up – Glyncorrwg with the new edition taking place in Glentress. The 1st event is taking place in Glyncorrwg on the 12th June so make sure you get your entry in quickly. All the details including downloadable entry form are available on the event website
Kona Bikefest powered by the Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport:
And finally for all the relay style endurance riders out there make sure you note the return of the Kona Bristol Bikefest in Ashton Court on the 5-6th June 2010.
